The Italian foundation has entered into a partnership with Stichting DierenLot to help animal shelters get through the corona crisis and is giving away a truck full of Almo Nature food.

As a foundation committed to animal welfare and biodiversity, Fondiazone Capellino could not sit still when the impact of the lockdown on animal welfare organizations became clear. Despite the restrictions, employees and volunteers continued to work for animals and we wanted to reward that with a special campaign in collaboration with Stichting DierenLot.

During the corona crisis, we donated a full truckload of dog and cat food to the foundation. This is equivalent to 60 pallets and 300,000 meals for dogs and cats waiting for a new home. Stichting DierenLot is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the Netherlands and supports small and medium-sized animal organizations in carrying out their daily tasks.

The corona crisis has had a dramatic impact on animal welfare organizations. While people showed more interest in adopting animals, the organizations had to manage with fewer donations and fewer volunteers and/or staff.

“Many animal aid organizations are having a hard time at the moment. These organizations can collect animal food and supplies from our warehouse. We can only facilitate this if organizations like Fondazione Capellino make such generous donations. With this shipment we can provide a great many animals with good food. Incredibly beautiful!” says Jane van den Berg, Head of Communications at Stichting DierenLot.

Animals give us their unconditional love and the least we can do is to make sure they are rewarded for it. It is up to us to provide shelter and food. Especially for the animals that are still looking for a home. In a time when we spend more time indoors and show more interest in each other and our natural environment, it is even more important to think about those who work hard for others every day. Shelter workers and volunteers are committed to ensuring that every dog or cat finds a new home and play an important role in creating awareness about responsible animal ownership. They not only care for the animals but also ensure that the right animal ends up with the right family. It is important to remember that an animal is for life and also counts on your care and love when we are allowed to spend more time outdoors again.

This collaboration is part of the Companion Animal For Life project managed by Fondazione Capellino and financed by Almo Nature - food products. Through the collaboration with Stichting DierenLot we want to help both people who are committed to animals and the animals themselves.
